First Appointment

For your first appointment we'll talk about your current and past health issues. If you have had x-rays or scans made, please bring them with you. After we’ve discussed your health status and complaints, I’ll proceed to perform a full physical exam, including various neurological, orthopaedic and chiropractic tests.
After the exam I’ll elaborate on the diagnosis, prognosis, the treatment options and possible rehab exercises. If we agree to get started on improving your health immediately, you’ll receive your first adjustment and we’ll proceed from there. Your first visit will take about an hour.

Techniques
I use various techniques in the practice, depending on gender, age, general state of health, patient preference and type of complaint.

  • The Diversified Technique is characterized by a high velocity low amplitude thrust and is the most generic chiropractic manipulative technique, aiming to restore proper movement and alignment of spine and joint dysfunction.
  • Flexion-distraction technique is particularly effective with hernias, sciatica and arthrosis.
  • Thompson Drop Technique is convenient for pregnant women or patients with artificial hips.
  • Activator method is very mild and specific for anxious or osteoporotic patients.
  • Myofascial release, post-isometric relaxation and trigger point therapy techniques are applied to sore and tight muscles to release tension and ease fibrotic changes within the muscles.

Because your spine houses your nervous system, there’s an emphasis on the spine – but extremity joints play a vital role for overall structural and neurological balance, so I’ll check your feet, knees, shoulders, elbows, wrists and even your TMJ on a regular basis.

Follow-up visits
We’ll go over your progress, from time to time I’ll re-test certain findings from your first visit and adjust the treatment protocol as necessary – initially, if you’re in pain, that will be our first goal to minimize the pain. Second goal is to get you stabile – this involves some participation on your part – and when you’re as good as you can get, we’ll try to keep you there.
